About Mr. Scratch Hook

​

His name is Mr. Scratch Hook aka DJ E.Rex. Born and raised in Southside Queens, his love for music started in the late '70s, the day he heard "Rappers Delight" on the radio. Rap was a new concept for many, but he soon realized he had a knack for the art. Soon after, he started Dj'ing and realized this was also something he was good at. E.Rex joined his 1st group called "Xklusive Kutt", right before moving to Miami FL in 1988.

 

While living in Miami, he hooked up with a local group called "The Latin Connection" (T.L.C., before T-boz, Chilly & Left Eye), which landed a deal with Hot Records out of Miami, releasing a single called "Respect" before the Real Roxanne. He then formed a collaborative group with label mate M.C Mighty Rock of the infamous "Double Deuce", and named the group "Elemento Creativo"(Creative Element). With the release of their debut album, "A New Style/Un Nuevo Estilo", a Spanglish/bass rap album that set Miami on fire with its infectious single "Esta Caliente", and pounding bass.

 

Using his time in the 90s and early 2000s to solidify his sound, and polish his skills as a DJ and Producer, Mr. Scratch Hook reactivated his music career in 2010 and has consistently released Underground Hip Hop Compilations, Mixtapes, and singles for the past 14 years; all seasoned with his patented Latin American/Caribbean Flavor. 

 

Now, with almost 40 Years of Experience in the Arts of DJing, Beat Making, and Vibe Curation, Mr. Scratch Hook returns with a collection of some of his best work from over the past 7 years. His latest LP, THE BOOK OF SCRATCH HOOK, boasts such fantastic features as SADAT X, KING MAGNETIC, CHRIS RIVERS, SHABAAM SAHDEEQ, THIRSTIN HOWL THE 3RD, JOHN JIGGS, MIC MOUNTAIN and more.
